962 Madison Avenue
Only steps from Central Park, 962 Madison Avenue is adjacent to the Surrey Hotel and across the street from the infamous Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side. Since 1955, it had been previously occupied by Florian Papp, one of the oldest antique galleries in America. Following their departure, the Landlord was presented with a unique opportunity to renovate the entire three-story corner lot to attract an anchor tenant to this prime retail address. Upon completing its renovation, members of our team were approached by the Landlord to lease out the 5,700 square foot building.
Situated on the Southwest corner of 76th Street, 962 Madison Avenue offers 100 feet of prime retail frontage on the Avenue. In 2018, members of our team were able to secure Compass, the residential brokerage, as the anchor tenant for the second and third floors. For its new flagship office, Compass would occupy 2,000 square feet on each floor, and an additional 400 square feet on the ground floor. The two remaining retail spaces were subsequently leased out to Mykita and Onia, joining Pat Areias, Elizabeth Locke, and Stephen Russell.
