Almine Rech

Originally founded in 1997, Almine Rech Gallery is established in several European cities including Paris, Brussels, and London. The eponymous gallery is owned by Almine Rech, who has built a reputation with her astute eye for Minimalist and conceptual work. Members of our team were approached by Rech and her son, Paul de Froment, in 2016 when they decided to build another gallery in New York City.

Seeking an intimate location on the Upper East Side amongst other galleries, we were able to find a 3,000 square foot space with elevator access on the second floor of 39 East 78th Street. This boutique building is just steps away from renowned galleries such as Mnuchin, Gagosian, Nahmad, and Skarstedt. With wrap-around windows overlooking Madison Avenue, the former gym space was exquisitely designed by David Bucovy.

For their opening New York exhibition, Rech and de Froment featured more than 50 works of art by Alexander Calder and Pablo Picasso. The show was co-curated by Bernard-Ruiz Picasso (Picasso’s grandson and also Rech’s husband) and Sandy Rower (Calder’s grandson). In addition to its stable of internationally recognized artists, the gallery continues to include new artists to its program such as Jeff Koons, Julian Schnabel, and Alex Israel.
